RAF Centenary 2018

To all members – please email webmaster@rafseletar.co.uk if you have any information of other RAF / RAFA events for this momentous anniversary next year.

One of our members, Brian Burgess, he of Seletar time 1969 through 1971, and a member of an RAF Police Association, received this email a couple of days back:

RAF Centenary Celebration

RAFPA-logo-smThe main event to celebrate/commemorate the centenary of the foundation of the RAF, will take place in Central London, on Tuesday 10 July 2018. There will be a service in Westminster Abbey, parade along the Mall, 100 aircraft flypast, presentation of a new Colour and reception on Horse Guards Parade.

The RAF Police Association has been given 6 places for this very long, but equally prestigious event. Branches nominated volunteers and the following members were the first to be drawn “out of the hat”. Here they are in alphabetical order:

  • Brian Burgess (North West)
  • Jeremy Fenton (Scot & NI)
  • Brian Flinn (Wilts)
  • Rod Inwood (East Midlands)
  • Brendan O’Neill (Hants & Dorset)
  • Bill Veazey (London Home Counties)

We wish them the very best and hope to spot them during the TV coverage of this historic ceremony.
